About Momo Cha
Momo Cha is a shanghainese in Detroit, Michigan. It is listed at 474 Peterboro St, Detroit, MI 48201, which places it among the local businesses of Detroit that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by.
In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Detroit; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in Michigan are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.
Hours are published for 6 days a week. The most common schedule is 4β9 pm. Note that it does not open on Monday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. No phone number is listed for this business, so the Google Maps link on this page is the best route for directions and any contact details Google has on file. More information is available on its website, momochadetroit.com.
On Google it holds a rating of 4.4 out of 5 from 158 reviews, which is a strong result for a shanghainese in Detroit and suggests consistent service.
Detroit is in Michigan, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Detroit follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

We've been placing (or attempting to place) takeout orders from Momo Cha, once a week, for the past 5 years or so. Food: 4 stars, very good, though occasionally you get samosas or momos that taste like they were sitting for a while. And I recently learned that most of their stuff is frozen/pre-cooked, so I can't give 5 stars on that in principle Service: been on a steady decline for years. More than half of the time, the online ordering website doesn't work or is turned off. I've had multiple conversations with the owner on this, and was told "call us on the phone", but nobody answers the phone. So we definitely place a lot fewer orders than we used to. Also, when I go in for pickup, often the employees will be sitting there with their heads so buried in their phones that I have to actually put in some effort to get their attention. Finally, on multiple occasions I've seen employees handling the [frozen] food directly with ungloved hands...that's not great from a health code perspective. Atmosphere: I didn't rate, because they're just renting a stand inside the Detroit Shipping Co...it's not like they have any control over that aspect.

One of the best fried momo I have had in a while here in the USA. If you come to Detroit, this is a must stop spot.

It is a fantastic spot for fresh, flavorful momos in a fun, casual setting. The dumplings are perfectly cooked and packed with taste, especially when paired with their delicious chutneys. Great variety, quick service, and a lively atmosphere make it an easy go-to when youβre craving something different and satisfying.

Momo Cha is inside of Detroit Shipping Company and itβs pretty solid! I ordered the Makhani which is essentially butter chicken. Itβs pretty good. You get quite a bit of rice and a decent size of curry. I felt that there wasnβt a whole lot of chicken, but, I think itβs fair for the price. I wish there were different spice levels you could pick because this personally tasted very mild to me. It wasnβt bad, but, I definitely like some spice in my curries. I love the vibe and atmosphere of Detroit Shipping Company! The service was fine. Not bad but nothing special. Overall, pretty solid! I just wish the curry could have been a bit spicier!

This place rocks, and I mean from the food to the service. First off the buzzer they give us very accurate but they move like 2 mins ahead of time usually. The food was really good the buns man lol those things were soft and the chicken inside was awesome. I had the sticky rice with chicken and wonton. Highly recommended 10/10 this say allot seeing how i haven't been on here but had to give MY OPINION ABOUT THIS PLACE.
